Amici Restaurant & NJ Wine

Amici Restaurant is located in Cherry Hill on Kresson Road. We have been enjoying their restaurant for over a decade, going back to their former home a couple of blocks away. Their present site is beautiful inside and out, though my picture does not do it justice, They have a beautiful covered patio out back, and even a miniature waterfall, which adds a wonderful ambiance. But we really come for the great Italian food and it is a BYOB restaurant! Our enjoyment on this visit was increased by sharing our table with great friends.

The Food

For our appetizer, my wife and I shared an order of Calamari Fritti. My wife’s choice for her entree was their Chicken Francaise, while I ordered their Orecchiette Barese. Her chicken was terrific. My pasta dish was served with sweet Italian sausage, sun-dried tomatoes, and broccoli rabe. Both dishes are pictured below.

The Wine

As per usual I brought a bottle of red and a bottle of white (pictured below):

William Heritage 2024 Buckwheat Vineyard Chardonnay-A tasty estate Chardonnay, perhaps my favorite Heritage Chardonnay since their Pumpkin Hill Chardonnay. It offers citrus (especially lemon and lime), as well as tropical notes. It was a very good pairing with the chicken dish.

Autumn Lake 2022 Eagle-An excellent new wine, only recently released. It is a Bordeaux-style red blend that is medium plus bodied, a deep ruby color, and cherries on the palate. It paired nicely with my Orrichietti dish. This wine was recently recognized by the Terroir New Jersey Wine Showcase Selection. I’ll have more to share about this organization in a future post.

We even received a complimentary dish of vanilla ice-cream because someone (Jackie?) told them our anniversary is on Monday. We will definitely be visiting again in the near future!

Recent NJ Wine Standout

Turdo Vineyard Turis 2022 Pinot Noir-A lovely version with cherry and earthy notes. While their fuller bodied, robust reds are our favorites here, this wine is very good and the 2022 vintage shines in this wine. I just love that Pinot Noir pairs so well with so many foods-like our Salmon on this evening.
