Laurita Winery Fall ’25

November 12, 2025 by David K Mullen

Laurita Winery is located in a town called New Egypt, not far from Fort Dix. They opened their doors in 2008 and have been making some excellent wines along the way. If you have never visited, you owe it to yourself to do so. The tasting room building is a 20,000 square foot structure that artfully combines two barns (each over 150 years old) into this unique and elegant building. The grounds are beautiful, the tasting room is huge and gorgeous. They even have an upstairs area that you can access via elevator. Their wines are excellent and they  have a deli with great sandwiches and salads. After you do your tasting, there are many very good options as to where to have a bite to eat or just enjoy a little wine with a great view. Below are a few photos demonstrating a few of these options (including a lovely deck overlooking the vineyard).

We decided to enjoy our wine here:

Speaking of wine…

The Wines

You get to taste six wines for $12. I chose the following:

  • Chardonnay Naked-Their unoaked Chardonnay is crisp, clean, and has a medium plus-body, with bright acidity.
  • Chardonnay Reserve-We enjoyed this even more than the unoaked version. It is full-bodied, with tasty citrus notes and is nicely balanced.
  • Norton-A wonderful version of this unique and truly American grape. It is a bold, full-bodied wine with a deep purple hue. It has an earthy quality and may remind you of a Zinfandel.
  • Cab Franc-One of the best Cab Francs in the state (which has many great ones). Medium-bodied with subtle notes of vanilla and oak and smooth tannins.
  • Chambourcin-Tasty, medium bodied with subtle cherry notes.
  • Meritage Red-An excellent blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with dark fruit and smooth tannins.

My wife chose the following wines to taste (as usual, we shared a few that we did not have in common):

  • Chardonnay Naked-Described above.
  • Chardonnay Reserve-Described above.
  • Sauvignon Blanc-Fruit forward. Actually tasted a little sweet.
  • Bistro-This is fruit forward, easy drinking red (our server told us it was based on Pinot Noir). It is medium-bodied with black cherry notes.
  • Merlot-Our favorite in the tasting, with bold color and dark fruit, silky smooth tannins and a long finish.
  • Meritage-Described above.

Laurita also offers a Sangria and a couple of other sweeter wines, which are not in our wheelhouse. However, they also make two wonderful wine-based chocolate wines, Chocolate Therapy and Chocolate Peanut Butter Therapy. I thought we had a bottle of each of the Chocolate Therapies, but when we got home I realized we only had a bottle of their Chocolate Peanut Butter Therapy. Just another reason to return sooner rather than later. Laurita also has a lot of activities going on from music to parties and other special events like weddings. It is a good idea to call first to make sure their hours do not differ due to one of these special events.

Our Take Aways

From left to right below:Naked Chardonnay, Merlot, and Reserve Chardonnay. We enjoyed the Merlot so much that we finished the bottle with dinner Thursday night, but luckily we decided to bring home one, too.
