My wife and I visited White Horse Winery in Hammonton on Thursday. We were already on the road and it was early so we stopped off at one of our favorite Italian Food Markets-Baglioni’s, to pick up some produce, pasta, and other staples. Once we tucked away our goodies in an insulated bag we headed for White Horse Winery on a sunny, but chilly day. We arrived, just as they were opening and were greeted by Laura, who was also our server. I started by making one substitution in our allotment (replacing Sweet Rose with their EBT Chardonnay). Since it was already lunchtime, we also put in an order of their Mixed Cheeseboard (half cheese, half meat, with a few nuts, grapes, and some fresh bread).
I love the vibe inside and outside of White Horse Winery. Above is the Fall entrance, while the photos below reflect a glimpse of the beauty of the interior of their tasting room.
The Wine
Before we ordered our free glass of wine (members receive this perk, if they pick up their allotment during the first week available). Laura offered to give us a taste of the newest additions. We got to try:
- Sauvignon Blanc (also in our allotment)-Laura shared that the grapes come from Delaware. For those who haven’t heard, The Vinton Family (owners of White Horse Winery) purchased Chaddsford Winery last fall.
- Sparkling Wine-An interesting sparkling wine made from Chardonnay, Cayuga, and Vidal Blanc. Very light on the carbonation (to my wife’s pleasure), but very tasty.
Our free glasses
- Coeur d’Est (my choice)-A great version of this classic Outer Coastal Plain. It is a delicious full-bodied blend of Chambourcin, Syrah, and Cab Franc.
- EBT (Carol’s choice)-This is their estate produced barrel fermented Chardonnay. It is very good and our favorite white wine here. It is aged in French oak for six months, with notes of apple and pear, and a creamy finish.
We decided to open our bottle of EBT to enjoy with our charcuterie and put it to further use with our dinner later on at Limoncello Ristorante in Sewell.

Dinner at Limoncello Ristorante with White Horse Winery Wines
We decided to take our unfinished bottle of White Horse Winery EBT and a red from my cellar from White Horse: 2018 Painted Red Blend. This is a terrific red blend of Merlot, Cab Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is medium-bodied with ripe, dark fruit notes. The Painted Red is their signature red blend. It went very well with our appetizer of Broccoli Rabe and Sausage and Cannellini beans. I did not get a photo of that, unfortunately. The EBT, described above was great with our Flounder Francaise, also pictured below. It is perhaps the best version I have had and is one of our favorites here. Loved the food, wine, and our service at Limoncello.
